Main attraction

Färnebofjärden National Park

The cabin sits inside Färnebofjärden National Park — one of Sweden's most biodiverse landscapes, where the Dalälven river spreads into a mosaic of flooded forests, islands and still bays. A UNESCO biosphere reserve, it is home to white-tailed eagles, ospreys, beavers, moose and over 100 nesting bird species. Walking and paddling trails start at the door.

Main attraction

Gysinge Bruk

Twenty minutes away, Gysinge is one of Sweden's best-preserved 17th-century ironworks villages and the gateway to the national park. Stroll the historic mill buildings along the rapids, visit the Naturum visitor centre, browse the renowned linen and homeware shops, and stop for fika or lunch at the riverside Wärdshus.

The island

Lynx Cabin sits on Ista, a small island just outside Österfärnebo. Open skies above the cabin, deep forest all around the shoreline.

The water

Crystal water a few steps from the door. Swimming jetty, two canoes, and a rowing boat included.

Forest trails

Marked hiking trails lead from the island and shore into kilometres of Gästrikland pine forest.

Berries & mushrooms

Blueberries and lingonberries in late summer; chanterelles in early autumn. Baskets in the entrance hall.

Winter

Cross-country ski tracks groomed within walking distance. Snowshoes available at the cabin.

Österfärnebo

A short drive to the village of Österfärnebo for a bakery, grocer, and Friday-night pizzeria.

Wildlife

Moose, roe deer, hares, beavers and white-tailed eagles — and, if you are quiet, the occasional lynx.
